Abstract: 

Point of view. In this study, a SHAKING-TABLE was used for concentrating a manganese ore sample from the Ghasem Abad area in Kerman, Iran. Experiments were designed by using L The influence of each variable and their interactions on the operation of the device were studied. The variables under investigation were: TABLE slope, TABLE frequency, water flowrate, feed rate, and particle size. The manganese concentrate grade, recovery, and separation efficiency were used as response variables. It was shown that water flowrate, TABLE slope, feed rate, and particle size are the significant variable on concentrate grade; while, all the variables influence manganese recovery. Also, water flowrate, TABLE slope, and TABLE frequency have an important effect on manganese separation efficiency. Finally, three mathematical models were presented to predict the values of each response variables.Among all gravity concentration methods, the SHAKING-TABLE is the most effective one from the metallurgical8 Taguchi design with five variables, each in two levels.

Abstract: 

A single storey, full-scale unreinforced confined brick masonry building was designed, based on Standard No.2800 of IRAN, and constructed on the SHAKING TABLE at the Earthquake Engineering Research Center, EERC, of Sharif University of Technology. The model consisted of a vertical reinforced concrete tie column and horizontal steel bond beams and had a jack-arch roof system.The walls had openings of different dimensions, making it possible to investigate the effects of the shape, geometry and location of the openings. The model was subjected to some seismic experiments, consisting of scaled records of the Barn, Tabas and Elcentro earthquakes as well as harmonic acceleration with a gradually increasing amplitude. The results indicated that the proper workmanship of ties, especially the proper connection of tie columns and bond beams, plays an important role in the integrity and stability of the structure. The creep of the masonry walls and subsequent reduction in frictional resistance between the walls and steel bond beams were effective on the out-of-plane failure of the brick walls.

Abstract: 

Probably, SHAKING TABLE is most effective method in gravity separation and usually used for beneficiation of garnet. Therefore this method was used to study the beneficiation of Bazman garnet. Main minerals of this ore are garnet (grossular type), wollastonite and diopside. Grade of garnet in ore was 47.73%. Garnet grains contain fine inclusions mostly diopside and wollastonite. Size of inclusions is about 30-50 microns and constitutes 10-30% of these grains. SHAKING TABLE tests were done for various grain sizes, angles and water flow rates. Maximum grade of garnet was obtained in coarse fraction (600-1700 microns) and 81.79% with a recovery of 12.1%.

Abstract: 

In this paper, dynamic properties and seismic behavior of single-storey building constructed by prefabricated 3D sandwich panel’s method is carried out under SHAKING TABLE test. In this experiment, the specimen is tested in full-scale dimension. In this study, the seismic behavior of system under dynamic loading such as earthquake motions is obtained. Linear and non-linear characteristics of structure, deformations, stiffness and fracture mechanism are investigated. In analysis, comparison of the results obtained from the test and numerical analysis are presented. The result indicates the 3D-panel system, due to its high rigidity, can resist mainly in linear domain and has adequate load bearing capacity against seismic excitation. The results could help the unknown parameters of dynamic analysis and design of this system.

Abstract: 

Interaction study on SHAKING TABLEs is considered necessary for such devices to guarantee their operational accuracy in vibration simulation. In such studies, accurate estimation on dynamic characteristics of foundation of SHAKING TABLEs and their neighboring soil is usually required. In this regard, experimental studies on the soil or on the foundation after its completion is recommended to reduce uncertainties in operation of the TABLE in near future. In this work a forced vibration study on the foundation of a six degrees of freedom SHAKING TABLE (to be operated by International institute of earthquake engineering and seismology) have been performed. In addition to the measured excitation information collected for determination of dynamic characteristics of the foundation, that part of the vibration that transfers to the soil (in different distances form the foundation) was also evaluated. Based on the results of such measurements, dynamic characteristics of the SHAKING TABLE foundation using a single degree of freedom model is estimated. Later the magnitude and the frequency contents of the vibration that was transferred to the soil in distances up to 25 meters from the edge of the foundation (in both vertical and horizontal direction) was also determined. According to the results of this study, the level of transferred acceleration to the soil reduces, rapidly, by distance from the foundation. However, the results of these measurements indicates that, acceleration magnitude in the range of high frequency vibration remains untouched.

Abstract: 

SHAKING TABLE is one of the most effective devices for gravity concentration which is used in coal washing for the particles sized from 0.15 to 9.5 mm. In this research, some parameters were determined such as longitudinal tilt, slide tilt and frequency which affect efficiency of SHAKING TABLE. 16 one - parameter tests were carried out in order to determine the aforementioned parameters. Therefore, the optimum range of longitudinal tilt, slid tilt and frequency obtained were 0 to 0.5 degree, 3 to 4 degree and 240 to 260 cycle per minute respectively. Since there may exist interactive effects among these parameters, a three-parameter Hdamard experimental design was carried out on the optimum range of above parameters. Results of this experiment show that interactive effects exist between these parameters, and optimum rate of the longitudinal tilt, slide tilt and frequency are 0 degree, 3 degree and 260(rpm) respectively. Separation efficiency for these parameters obtained were 64.2%, 55.5% and 47.55%, respectively.
